Charles glared blankly at his empty page while tapping his pencil,
trying to consider how he would begin his essay. He scanned the room
and noticed his classmates writing intensely, which made him feel as if
he was falling behind. He suddenly remembered what he had learned
last year in Mrs. Hall's writing class. He first started on an outline to map
out ideas for the essay. He then used those ideas with his online
research to form a rough draft. Next, he read over his draft and made
revisions. Finally, he was prepared to exchange papers with a classmate
