Who is Caedmon , and how does the excerpt describe him ?

Caedmon is an Anglo-Saxon and one of the earliest English  poet that is well-known. He was at the double monastery of Streonæshalch  during the abbacy of St. Hilda and really cared for animals

According to the 8th century historian, Bede, Caedmon learnt to compose songs in the course of a dream he had one night. But he was originally ignorant of "the art of song". Caedmon became a zealous monk and an inspirational Christian poet later.

The excerpt defines him to be someone who was actually lost at a time and was later found. He never knew that he possessed the gift of singing and composing songs until he had a miracle that made him to believe that he did.
