Apollo’s wish to capture the fair Daphne was thwarted by the young but powerful Eros. Andthe one woman Apollo desired would sadly never be obtained. Eros humbled Apollo that day, giving him what he felt he deserved for his arrogant behavior. A young and inexperienced archer was able to conquer the mighty Apollo. Thus Eros’s wisdom exceeded Apollo’s boasting. Eros understood that his single, well-placed arrow was a mightier foe than the thousand arrows launched by Apollo. Mighty Apollomissedcapturing Daphne and missed the value of Eros’s lesson. But what cannot be missed is that Apollo got what he deserved. While Apollo’s achievements would be remembered through the ages, capturing Daphne would not be among them. Apollo lost a battle with young Eros and never even knew it. Eros proved that he was as good an archer as the mighty Apollo, giving him just what he deserved.
