Her father,  Samuel Blackwell, influenced her life as a doctor because her father exerted a positive and caring attitude towards his children. He rejected punishing his children physically. Instead, their misdemeanors were written down and added up. He also wanted to help abolish slavery and he was very positive. He wished to help people and make it equal for everyone. Elizabeth was probably influenced by his positivity and outlook on the world.
