The moral of big story by George Loveridge is :

We should not be so frantic to accomplish our points that we follow some unacceptable course.  

Ernie is a person in the story who needed to be an effective correspondent. In his mission to compose the issues on everyone's mind, he mocked the necessity of straightforwardness and trustworthiness in announcing.

The point when John Vollmer a trooper suffocated in the stream, Ernie camouflaged himself to get data about him from his folks. He was not straightforward in his examination.

A feeling of remorse would later make him to subtly return the photograph he gathered from the guardians of the perished and flee. His franticness made him not to observe the right rules in announcing and the result of that was an awful still, small voice.

Ernie is a character in the story who wanted to be a successful reporter. In his quest to write the big stories, he flouted the requirement of transparency and honesty in reporting. When John Vollmer a soldier drowned in the river, Ernie disguised himself to obtain information about him from his parents. He was not transparent in his investigation.

A guilty conscience would later make him to stealthily return the photo he collected from the parents of the deceased and run away. His desperation made him not to follow the right guidelines in reporting and the consequence of that was a bad conscience.
