You are going to develop an introduction to an original narrative essay. The introductory paragraph, which is traditionally five to seven complete sentences in length, serves a very important role in a narrative essay. It sets the context for the reader, and it introduces the characters of the essay. To begin, you will need to select a topic about which to write. The topic must be age- and school-appropriate. You can choose your own, or you can select from one of the following:

Write about a time when you accomplished something that you either thought you could not do or were told you could not do.
Write about a day when anything that could go wrong did, and how you made the best of it.
Write about your greatest achievement, and why it makes you so proud.
After you have chosen a specific, narrowed topic, you will need to think about the context and characters. To get some thoughts generated, you will first answer the following questions. Then, you will combine all of your answers into proper paragraph form. This paragraph will set the context and introduce your characters.

Complete all work in an editable text document. Your final product should have a list of seven questions with answers, and then a five to seven sentence paragraph.

Questions:
1. What topic did you choose?

2. When did your experience take place?

3. Where did your experience take place?

4. What types of feelings did you experience during the event?

5. Who was involved in the experience?

6. How do you know the person or people involved in the experience?

7. What interesting characteristics or personality traits does the person or people involved in the experience possess?

Paragraph:
After answering all of the questions above, combine your answers into an introductory paragraph. Remember, the introductory paragraph (or the exposition) draws a reader into the story, as it is the first opportunity to grab the reader's attention and pull the reader into the plot. You can do so by describing an action, using interesting dialogue, or delivering a surprise statement.

Make sure your introductory paragraph has some type of attention-grabbing beginning, thoroughly introduces the context, and completely discusses any characters. Your paragraph must use proper spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure.
