Basically Fischer explains a reality where we've been told that the american citizen is the most individualistic person and that they try all the time to fulfill the american dream, in that matter it turns out that it's only true when it comes to economic matters, but when it comes to all other aspects of life, americans are the most group oriented citizens of the world, that they have a feeling for following the leader or the government even if they are wrong, and that law if above conscience, so reading this you can agree than more than individualism the american has fallen into a state of conformity and obedience to the superior rather than a logical and reasonal thinking day to day basis on the actions that the individual should take.

sam knew that staying up late on a weeknight would effect his exam performance the next day. however, he believed that his friends would be mad at him if he didn't join them. peer pressure and the thought of losing his friends scared sam. he planned to meet them for a couple of hours and then leave early to study for the exam.
