Below is an excerpt from School Days of an Indian Girl written by Zikala-Sa. Compare and contrast her attitude toward education to the attitudes in the previous passage. Explain why you think the Cherokee felt differently about learning Sequoyah's syllabary than Zitkala-Sa did about learning English.     Sequoyah learning the language is showed in a way that is empowering. Sequoyah creating this is a example of the difference he and Zitkala-Sa had. The Cherokee people were studying their language to keep their culture alive! But on the other hand, the experiences Zitkala-Sa had when learning how to speak English was NOT the same!  Zitkala-Sa explains her experiences as dehumanizing of her justice and freedom of rights.  When in school it was very scary and sad. This shows that Zitkala-Sa and the Cherokee people had an difference between their thoughts and feelings of learning something new. Cherokee in the first example were just simply learning something apart of their culture.  In the second illustration Zitkala-Sa was being banned of her culture which was apart of her.
