chapter 1.  Jonas is feeling nervous about the upcoming december. He talked it over the dinner table with his family after his father had explained that a baby had not been doing so well in the hospital he works at. The parents decide to have a private talk with Jonas.

chapter 2 : They parent talk over with Jonas that there is nothing for Jonas to worry about for the elders were never wrong when they chose a job.

chapter 3: Gabriel the fussy baby from the fathers hospital comes to stay at jonas's house for a bit. Jonas finds out that the baby also has pale eyes like him. And jonas has a memory about a change in an apple when he had been playing catch with his friend aster. The change in the apple was the first time Jonas had seen color but didn't know it
