What reasons does Kant give us to refrain from acts of cruelty to animals?

Kant believed autonomy was very valuable and in order to have free will, required having self consciousness and to be guided by a reason. And according to Kant, animals aren’t autonomous for therefore categorical imperative does not apply to them :)
