How does that cat know of the other portals (question from the movie Coraline)

This is just my theory..

the cat was originally from the 'other world' and lives forever. except he helps the victims, he was around when Wybies grandma went missing. so he knew what was going to happen

I think he is the Beldams son but the beldam didnt wanna eat him so she turned him into a cat.The Beldams son is the "Boring Blue Boy" he lived in the other world with the beldam so he has know where each portal lies.So he helps the Beldams victims, the Beldam is not a fan of her son cause cats eat spiders and she wants to avoid him.
