1. You have previously written the introduction to your article. Now you will write the body paragraphs to continue your cause and effect article.
2. Be sure to use the information you previously wrote in your Informational Research Chart and your introduction.
3. In at least three body paragraphs remember to include:
- a subheading for each section of the body
- transition phrases at the beginning of each paragraph
- a topic sentence for each body paragraph
- support for your topic sentence with evidence from your research, using
signal phrases.
- five or more complete sentences in each paragraph.
- at least one graphic in your article.
- at least one link to a resource that supports your thesis.
- technical language to show your understanding of the topic.

4. Use correct grammar, punctuation, spelling and write in formal style using the third person point of view.

Making social media bully free could save a teens life and we need to put a time restriction on social media. The time limit could be 30 minutes. Tik tok, Instagram, Twitter, Snap chat, Face book, and etc., these social media websites can be very dangerous for teenager because they can all be in contact with a bully. These are all very good reasons why social media can be stricture and more safe for teenagers to use and this is why social media isn't safe for teenagers.

However, social media use can also negatively affect teenagers, distracting them, disrupting their sleep, and exposing them to bullying, rumor spreading, unrealistic views of other people's lives and peer pressure. The risk depends on how much time teenagers spend on social media. We need to make social media bully free.

paraphrasing

what: paraphrasing differs from quoting because you restate the passage in your own words. since you don’t use the author’s words, you don’t need to use quotation marks. however, you still need to acknowledge the author for his or her ideas.

when paraphrasing a text, you should communicate the full meaning of the text; don’t change the meaning. it can be a condensed version of the text, or it could end up being longer than the source it’s paraphrasing.

when: you use paraphrasing when you take notes, or explain a chart or diagram to someone. paraphrasing highlight the important parts of a larger text. it also allows you to simplify the ideas for your readers.

example:

original: “it was no ordinary thing that called her away–it was probably further from ordinary than anything that had ever happened in dickson county. but what her eye took in was that her kitchen was in no shape for leaving: her bread all ready for mixing, half the flour sifted and half unsifted” (glaspell).

paraphrase: as mrs. hales walks around mrs. wright’s home, she notices that the kitchen is in disarray as if she was in the middle of baking bread (glaspell).
