The language we speak is a big part of the identity we have build and keep on building throughout our lives. It is a crucial piece in the cultural puzzle that helps develop our view of the world and of ourselves. If we are not allowed to write our personal statements in our original language, we are, in a sense, betraying the very identity we wish to convey through our precious words.
