ANIMAL FARM In Ch. 2 of Animal Farm, the pigs Snowball (Trotsky) , Napoleon (Stalin) , and Squealer (Propaganda) adapt Old Major's (Marx/Lenin) ideas into "a complete system of thought," which they formally name Animalism, an allegorical reference to Communism. Explain the allegorical intent for each commandment.

1. Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy. = Noncommunists are enemies
2. Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend. = Only other Communists are friends
3. No animal shall wear clothes. =
4. No animal shall sleep in a bed. =
5. No animal shall drink alcohol. =
