“Today, you seem to be more tentative.” My mother turned to me, whispering, dusting off her funeral attire. I sat up, a deft movement, adjusting my posture. It wasn’t like there wasn’t a reason to be so depressed today. My father’s funeral, I could already tell he was buried in a linen shroud. “I would love to inscribe his name into my heart, losing someone someone so close breaks another person.” My eyes fluttered, amazed at how my mother could be so versatile so quickly, be so tranquil, even though she’d lost her husband. “A death could mean there’s a chance for an evolve, my dear..” She caressed my face. “He was always so diligent with work. A man held captive by work, one who did wonderfully with how he was an antic creator. And yet, when I saw his stifled body on the ground..” My uncle, my father’s brother choked back tears on the mic. There was an eclipse from my cousins running to calm the man down, and so I was no longer able to see him.
