Read the passage from "The Dream." The day of the contest came and Amina was all nerves. One girl played a technically perfect and clear version of "America, the Beautiful." She said that the nature in America was beautiful and inspiring, and that’s why she felt patriotic. Another played "Taps" with amazing speed and said that life in America was fast-paced and inspiring.

Amina played the national anthem, but she mixed in a Nigerian rhythm that her father had taught her as a little girl. She said that patriotism to her meant loving where you are no matter where you're from.
