Ode To The Night  

My precious night, you inspire me to write.

How I love the way you force toil to fade,

Shielding my mind as if a noble knight,

Always dreaming next to your vorpal blade.  

Let me compare you to a dull, fair day?

You are more daring, silly and chilly.

Darkness invading on summers of May

As if blood upon a sheer white lily.

How do I love you? Let me count the ways.

I love your dark wash of striking colour.

Thinking of your gentle sleep fills my days.

You are fair, unlike the day (a luller).  

Now I must away with a restful heart,

Remember my dim words whilst we're apart.
