How Cheetahs Run So Fast (1) Most people know that cheetahs are the fastest animals on land, but they cannot explain why. (2) The answer has to do with how cheetahs are shaped and the physical features that help them.

(3) Cheetahs are built for speed with aerodynamic bodies. (4) They have a small, slender body with long, thin legs. (5) They also have a very flexible backbone. (6) It acts like a spring for their back legs when they run, propelling them forward (so that they can take huge strides of up to 25 feet). (7) They have a small head with large nostrils and large lungs to take in air. (8) Additionally, they have an oversized heart that pumps blood through their body at a very fast rate.

(9) Cheetahs also have some additional features that help them run so fast. (10) They have claws that do not retract and are always out. (11) The claws give them traction, like Soccer cleats, and help them grip the ground as they run. (12) They also have a long tail that they use as a counterbalance when they turn suddenly while chasing preys. (13) In fact, the tail is more than half the length of a cheetah’s body. (14) Cheetahs throw their tails to the opposite side when turning, using it as a weight so that they don’t fall over.

(15) The physical features of cheetahs help to minimize air resistance from outside the body and maximize power from within the body. (16) However, cheetahs can accelerate very quickly. (17) They get up to speeds of 40 miles per hour in just three strides and can hit a maximum speed of 70 miles per hour. (18) This incredible feat comes with an affect, though. (19) Cheetahs can run for only short bursts of up to 600 yards before they become too hot and tired to go on. (20) They put themselves at risk for brain damage if they continue to run for to long at top speed.

(21) The speed of a cheetah is something amazing to behold but cheetahs must be very watchful at all times. (22) Their small, lightweight bodies are perfect for running, but their size can be a death sentence for them when encountering large predators.

Will mark as brainliest excerpt from the christmas carol: use this information to deepen your understanding of the character. oh! but he was a tight-fisted hand at the grindstone, scrooge! a squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous, old sinner! hard and sharp as flint, from which no steel had ever struck out generous fire; secret, and self-contained, and solitary as an oyster. the cold within him froze his old features, nipped his pointed nose, shriveled his cheek, stiffened his gait; made his eyes red, his thin lips blue; and spoke out shrewdly in his grating voice. a frosty rime was on his head, and on his eyebrows, and his wiry chin. he carried his own low temperature always about with him; he iced his office in the dog-days; and didn’t thaw it one degree at christmas. race: use this organizational method to guide your writing- r – restate the prompt a – answer the prompt/questions c – cite evidence e – explain the evidence write your response here:
