Making inferences based on indirect characterization

An inference is a conclusion we can make based on certain evidence. When we're reading a book, we can make different conclusions based on the way the author describes their character. There are two different types of characterization:

We can make various inferences about a character based on their behavior. For example, through dialogue, we can conclude whether the character is nice, mean, bossy, awkward, etc. From their actions, we can conclude whether they are, for example, brave or cowardly. This is how making inferences based on indirect characterization works.
