The author depicts Theseus as a human being marred by imperfections. In his early years, he was described as very keen for adventures and he had great determination to become a hero. Theseus insisted on taking the unsafe land route rather than following the secured sea route to Athens, this illustrates his adventurous spirit and the inclination to make a name for himself. Initially, it was regarded as reckless but later translated as being heroic when he subdued all the bandits along the way including minotaur.
