This poem is some sort of a manifesto of manifesto of life the phrase the advancing light in this way could mean early morning when the horizon brightens to infer the illuminations of ideas. it's this way is a poem written by nazim hikmet's like i said it's some sort of manifesto a manifesto for life. in this poem he talks about how he can't smell stuff because flowers are blossoming while he stands in the advancing light his hands are hungry the world is very beautiful. he can't get enough of looking at the beautiful trees all around him there a beautiful color of green and they're very hopeful which means very good and in a good way not a negative way a sunny road runs through the mulberries he is in jail and he can see all this outside the prison window in his cell so basically the story takes place from him being in jail. in this way he doesn't care if he's in jail or not it kind of seems like he kind of likes it in my opinion his point is not to surrender but being captured is not the point. so if he robbed a bank or killed somebody or did something very bad the point is not to surrender and it's not about getting caught it's about doing it and then he talks about his life from inside the prison cell of what he can see smell feel and things like that
