The resolution of the story that i read was that Melinda finally got to go hope after 3 years of training to be the perfect german wife. First of all after 2 years she was adopted into a german family and she had to do the hiltler salute even though she didn't like to. Secondly, the war was getting very bad and there were a bunch of explosions so her and her adoptive mother and sister moved all of their things into the basement of their house while her adoptive brother and father went to go hide somewhere else away from the house. Finally the war ended and a person came to the house asking for Melinda and told Malinda that her mother was still alive and asked her if she wanted to go home she said “yes i want to go home” and then she was taken back home to live with her mother once again. As you can clearly see she finally got to go home.
