he author uses a dramatic and dated tone to set the time and place of his story as he uses dated vocabulary to convey what he is saying. tone would be different when writing about similar events today as we'd use more modern vocabulary, which would cause the reader, or listener, to understand more thoroughly of events that we are speaking about.
