Last year, I had to spend a week or two in the hospital. For my immune system, a mild ear infection turned into some big issues. One night after my doctor sent me the news that more testing would be required, I was very sad and angry, which meant another few days in an uncomfortable bed with people poking and prodding at.

The discomfort started again when I thought about it and I was sure that my condition could just get more serious. About the time I started wondering if I would ever see my own house again, my high school best friend came by. She was our class clown, very literally. On the tip of her lips, she still had a brilliant joke. At the football games, she was the mascot and her antics were so humorous. I can't help but smile right now as I hear of her.
