In the book The Key to Midnight by Dean Koontz it is about this person who basically gets themselves a new life. In the beginning Nothing really happens they just introduce the characters and help build the storyline. In the middle the agents are trying to solve the case about the "missing person." And in the end they find out everything that happened to the main character and all that.
