I prefer cats over dogs but it comes down to which pet you like. Cats and dogs all have their own benefits and setbacks. Dogs can be trained for many useful purposes, such as service dogs for the disabled. They can also be trained to guard homes when owners are away. However, without proper training, dogs have the risk to bite other people they are not used to. Cats, on the other hand, cannot keep thieves away from the house by meowing. They can, however, still be trained to do certain useful tricks. Cats are solitary pets that do not seek out your attention 24/7. Setbacks to both dogs and cats include, allergies to their fur, rabies, diseases, etc. If you are looking to adopt a cat or dog but found out you or one of your family members are allergic, try your luck with a hairless pet!~ I hope this helps you!~ ╰(￣ω￣ｏ)
