Elie Wiesel's memoir "Night" recounts the horrendous experience of Elie and the Jews during the Nazi regime. This event also became one of the most horrific genocides of world history.

When the prisoners were 'checked' and observed, those with gold teeth were made to visit the camp dentist to get them extracted. Though Elie was also in possession of a gold tooth, he told the dentist that "[he doesn’t] feel well" and that he is suffering from fever. This made the dentist delay the extraction. Through his wit, luck, and compassion from the dentist, he was able to save his gold tooth from getting extracted.
