How do the words shuddering expectancy affect the meaning of this excerpt? “ I slept profoundly, but how long I do not know. All at once I found myself away, and filled with the shuddering expectancy. All was still. All but my my own heart I could hear it beat. Presently the bedclothes begin to slip away slowly toward the foot of the bed as if someone is pulling them!
