It was her grandmother calling to say she had an extra ticket to a play on Saturday evening. Kara's grandmother offered Kara the ticket. Grandma read a review of the play to Kara, and Kara was definitely interested. Kara paused to think through the next day's schedule. Grandma
must have thought that Kara was just being polite because she added, "If you're busy or you'd rather do something else, don't worry, Kara. My
neighbor Louise would love to go. I just called you first because you and I always have such fun together."
Kara did a quick run through of her Saturday schedule. The game started at 3:00, and it would last about 80 minutes. Portsmouth was
about an hour away, and Kara would have to shower and grab some food when she got home. That meant she would be ready for Grandma to
pick her up around 6:30. The theater was downtown, nearly an hour away from her house.
What time does the play start?" she asked her grandmother. Grandma told her 7:30. Kara groaned in frustration. If anything went wrong
- ke bad traffic on the way home from the game or on the way to the theater-they would be late, and Grandma was the kind of person who
always liked to be right on time. On the other hand, the play sounded really interesting!
What is Kara's dilemma?
1. kara has scheduled two events for the same day, and she is trying to decide which one she should attend.
02. Kera doesn't want to pass up a fun opportunity, but if she accepts it she may spoil her grandmother's experience.
03 er loves her grandmother and wants to show her that she appreciates the offer of the ticket, but she likes playing soccer more
than going to plays
O Kara feels bad about taking the ticket away from Grandma's neighbor Louise, but the review made the play sound very interesting
and she reay wants to see it
