Why is the calm water in the bay a good place for a young turtle to be basking?

The calm water allows for them to not be washed away or at risk of being eaten as they could be in the rougher waters. They live in areas of calm water where they are able to leave the water easily by climbing onto rocks or tree trunks so they can warm up in the sun.
