You could write something about inequality and social injustice that's usually where I turn for writing for example marriage equality etc some important people in history that you could form this around could be Marsha P.   in this case the conflict is internal, the character must overcome her or his own nature or make a choice between two paths.

aronson and budhos, who are husband and wife in real life, decided to write sugar changed the world when they found out how sugar, which had an important role in slavery and economy, changed their ancestors' lives.
