The fact that supports the theme presented above is the that Eliezer starts to process and reflects the horrendous first night in the concentration camp and its lasting effect on his life. In my opinion this experience introduces the theme of Eliezer’s spiritual crisis and his loss of faith in God. Hence the quote "Never shall I forget those flames that consumed my faith forever."
