In the chapter Adrift at sea(kind of like a story on life of pi but many other differences..)- a) why was the narrator trying to save Richard Parker, an adult Bengal tiger?

b) Survival is all about being selfish. Does the narrator come off as a selfish person? Why or why not? Support your answer with an instance.
