Fog by Carl Sandburg
The fog comes
on little cat feet.
It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.
What techniques did the author use to convey the image of fog over a city in such few words? Select three correct answers.
He created a metaphor with the cat references to create an image without having to fully describe it.
He kept the narrative simple; the fog "comes," "sits," and "then moves on.
He chose to depict only a moment in time rather than a narrative; there is nothing happening in the poem.
He kept the focus on the fog, for example, he did not describe the harbour or the city at all.
He uses a simile to compare the fog to a cat
