You will research an environmental activist organization, there are some organizations listed in the directions for this assignment at the end of Lesson 4.04 if you can't come up with one to research on your own. If you look at the directions in the lesson, you only have to complete Part 1 and Part 2.

Part 1 Directions:

Select an organization that works to protect some element of the environment (ocean, land, trees, animals, etc.). Visit the organization’s website, and read the “About Us” section to learn more about the organization. Search to find answers to the following questions:

What is the name of the organization?
When were they founded?
Why were they founded? (This info may be found in an 'Our Mission' or 'About Us' section of the website)
What do they actually do?
What are their goals? (This info may be found in an 'Our Vision' section of the website)
Why is their work important?
When you record information from research, write it in your own words. Do not copy the words from your source.

Part 2 Directions:

Now that you have completed some research, you have a job! Answer the question: How has your selected organization helped the environment?

Write a five to seven sentence informational paragraph about the important work of the organization you have selected. Use the info you recorded for Part1 to help you write your paragraph. All information should be in YOUR OWN WORDS. NO PORTION OF YOUR PARAGRAPH SHOULD HAVE WORDS FROM THE SOURCE YOU RESEARCHED.
