2. However, There were black codes. These were very racist codes that prevented black people from going to school, Voting, Getting jobs, Buying land, And going to the same places as white people. These were repealed by the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments.

The 13th amendment outlawed slavery all over the United States.

The 14th amendment said that black people are citizens and are protected by the law as any other non-black citizen.

The 15th amendment said that all men can vote regardless of their race.
