Mother: No, you can't go to a concert on a school night.
Son: But all my friends are going!
Mother. And if all your friends jumped off a bridge, would you do that too?

  The situation presented is that the child wants to go to a concert on a weekday where he has to go to school, just because his friends are going.

Explanation:

 This situation is an example of "following the herd". The child wants to do something wrong just because others do it.

 Just because all of his friends go to the concert on a school night does not mean that what they are doing is the right thing to do. His arguments are not valid and that is what his mother wants to make him see with her comment.

His mother is basically asking him: If your friends do something wrong then will you do it too?

not everyone is always right.

teenagers are certainly stereotyped as moody.

most people view teenagers as naturally moody and grumpy, even when this is wrong. many teens are suffering from depression but it is brushed off as "just a phase" or "that's just cause they're a teenager"
