The author shows that the production and use of energy, in the future, must be adapted to reduce the possible environmental problems that the old forms of energy use created. As an example, it shows the dangers of driving in a huge dust storm created by soil erosion. This region suffered not only from this, but also had several problems with water supply and all this was caused by overexploitation, causing the city to invest in clean energy sources, at least for local use, to reduce environmental exploitation. and allow a reduction of these problems. The show now shows how the inhabitants were investing in the production of ethanol and any other fuel source that could be taken from their plantations.

i think the correct answer would be adjustments in life roles.  this causes for one to adjust or change totally his/her career or lifestyle since the present is not beneficial to the life role he is at. for instance, you became a mother you would of course stop going to malls and enjoying life outside. you would be staying at home taking care of your child.
