Many people today are overly concerned about coming into contact with germs and bacteria that can make them sick. Cleanliness and hand washing are important for preventing illness, but some individuals carry bottles of hand sanitizer everywhere. Overuse of these products can make
people vulnerable to common germs and bacteria found in the environment. Simply washing hands with soap and water, and letting the Immune
system do its job, is the best way to stay healthy.
Martin wants to add some evidence to support the underlined claim.
Which sentences provide the most relevant evidence for the claim?
1. To be safe, people should use hand sanitizers only when soap and water are not available. Using hand sanitizer too much might
even increase the risks to a person's health.
O 2. Many people are misinformed about hand sanitizers, Plain soap and water has been proven to be more effective than hand
sanitizers at cleaning hands since it removes dirt and destroys germs.
3. Studies show that some exposure to germs allows the body to develop ways to fight infection. Hand sanitizers kill both helpful and
harmful bacteria, which can keep the body from creating natural defenses
against the bad bacteria.
4. Hand sanitizers can remove up to 99.9 percent of common household germs. However, hand sanitizers can strip natural oils from
the skin and are a more expensive way of destroying germs than washing the hands with soap and water.
