First of all, note that ethos is the ethical appeal and pathos attempts to invoke sympathy and make the reader feel what the author wants them to feel.

He used this frequently and used the pronouns you, let us, we observe, and also he talked about Not as a call to bear arms, not as a call to battle, but to bear the burden of others...

Metaphor - jungle of suspicion, bonds of mass misery, and the chains of poverty

alliteration: Let us go forth, Pay any price, bear any burden

All of these point to pathos - he wants you to think with your heart
