In Act 2; scene 3, Friar Lawrence agrees to marry Romeo and Juliet in secret. His motive for doing so was his hope that the marriage between the two children would bring an end to the two families feuding and bring peace to Verona. Your assignment is to pretend that YOU are Friar Lawrence. Write a letter to EITHER (not both) Lord Montague (Romeo’s father) or Lord Capulet (Juliet’s father) explaining your ( Friar Lawrence’s) actions as well as asking whichever father you wrote to publicly approve of the marriage. Remember that YOU are Friar Lawrence, so write it from his point of view. Your letter should be two paragraphs long and should explain the benefits of this marriage not only to the families, but also to the town of Verona. Remember that the Prince gave an order at the beginning of the play that if anyone from either family is caught fighting in the streets, those people would be put to death. Can someone help me??
