During this quarter you have read informational texts and analyzed arguments about how our decisions impact our environment in both positive and negative ways. Throughout the quarter you have also considered what we can do to address environmental issues. Now, imagine that the Ad Council is seeking student-created public service announcements (PSAs) about what young people can do to impact an environmental issue. The PSAs will be broadcast on the Internet, uploaded to social media sites, and aired on television during programming for teens. Since the topic of the environment is so broad, you will need to select one specific issue and develop an argument for why young people should care about the issue and what they can do to address the problem. Public service announcements need a script, so your PSA should state a claim or thesis by taking a clear side, back it up with research, and refute the other side, if applicable.
