Aumakua Read the passage and correct the the words that don't match the others in the
list.
The ancient Hawaiians had different customs from other Western cultures of the
time, and by the time they came into communication with other groups they had
developed their own rich cultural heritage. They went about their lives by surviving
off the land, following strict social rules, and respected their aumakuas, or "family
gods." Unlike more powerful gods such as Pele, the fiery goddess of volcanoes,
aumakuas were spiritual guides for individual families. They were known for
appearing in people's dreams, saved people from harm, and bringing about good
fortune to people in need.
Like the spirit guides of other religions, aumakuas were said to be able to shape-shift.
They could appear as a shark lurking on the ocean floor or a hawk circling the skies.
Out of respect for these spirit guides, the Hawaiian people paid tribute to them,
asked for their guidance, and consider them to be family.

"and these i address to all females that would be married, or are already so; not that i suppose their sex more faulty than the other, and most to want advice, for i assure [women], upon my honour, i believe the quite contrary; but the reason is, because i esteem them better disposed to receive and practice it, and therefore am willing to begin, where i may promise myself the best success." this statement from franklin's "rules and maxims for promoting matrimonial happiness" best demonstrates his use of criticism to argue his point his use of common sense to appeal to women his use of flattery to gain women's attention his use of facts to prove his point
