The theme that the lines from the Chorus reveal is that divine authority is more powerful than human authority.

Throughout Sophocles' play Antigone, the author makes reference to the dichotomy between divine authority and human authority and presents the first one as the most powerful since it is the one that determines the fate of human beings. Antigone decides to follow the divine law of burrying every dead body instead of following Creon's orders of not burrying her brother. In other words, Antigone chooses her religious duty over her civil duty. Creon thinks that human laws are more powerful and that being in conflict with  divine authority cannot bring any consequences. Creon realizes that he is wrong by the end of the play.
