What is the goal of an argumentative text?

The point of an argumentive essay or text, is to show that your topic is worth considering. It is very similar to a persuasive essay or text. However, while a persuasive essay shows the author's view of the subject, and their opinions on it, an argumentive essay shows evidence towards their subject.
