Hello this is a question for English majors or someone from that spectrum, what did you do to improve your writing? Did you take any specific classes that drastically helped you improve? I would like to know since I’m becoming more passionate about writing and would like to expand my vocabulary+improve the way I express myself. Well there are some things you can try. ProWritingAid is a great website which drastically improved the quality of my writing, I have a premium subscription and am very happy with it. Other than that, it is important to work through with other people who are better at writing so they can guide you.

I would say there are two main things that helped me improve my writing.

One: I read. A lot. So much, it was incredible. Our teacher measured our reading progress on a board in elementary school, and my name was on the ceiling. Reading allows you to absorb in different techniques, vocabulary, metaphors, ideas, pacing, etc. for your writing. Blending the talents of many talented authors along with your own style will result in a rich and interesting style of writing that will leave readers turning the page. Not only this, but you can also gain a sense of plot, events, and character archetypes.

Two: I wrote a lot. Okay, so... what I actually did was write not only stories but I role-played. I know this has a negative connotation a lot of the time, but not to worry, nothing wacky went on. Role-playing (if you write descriptively) is excellent for improvement! Writing everyday on a constant basis accelerates improvement and allows you to also see what makes content interesting to read by taking in the replies of others involved.
