Opinion on this paper feel free to correct anything. *rough draft* Good morning ladies and gentlemen of the jury, my name is Jake Blake, and again, I am the defense attorney for Mrs. Maloney. It has been a pleasure to appear before you in this significant case. I appreciate all of you for listening and considering our entire argument. I would like to start by saying there is no evidence nor any kind of witness to support the prosecution. Mrs. Maloney is a 6-month pregnant soon-to-be mother that would do anything for her husband. There was no murder weapon found and Mrs. Maloney was at the market at the time of the murder. The prosecution has presented insufficient evidence to convict Maloney. We are asking all of you to reach a verdict of not guilty.

The defendant, Mrs. Maloney has always had a great relationship with her husband. She always kept the house clean and cooked a great dinner for him every night. On the day of the murder, Mrs. Maloney was out shopping for her husband only to return to a horrific sight. Her husband, who she loved dearly, was murdered in his own home. The detectives arrived shortly after Maloney called the police and they had no suspicions. Maloney is now being accused of the death of her own husband. No one should ever have to be tried for the death of a loved one when there is no evidence. Mrs. Maloney has a clean record and has never been involved in a single case. Many people that were asked to testify for Mrs. Maloney all stated how she is such an outgoing and nice person.

The prosecution has stated, “Marry must have killed Mr. Maloney because she was home near the time of the murder”. This statement is completely false because Mrs. Maloney was at the market at approximately 5:47 pm which was near when the murder occurred. Sam, the market employee, has stated, “Mrs. Maloney showed no sign of anger or agitation and acted happy as always”. The prosecution has also stated, “In the US 71% percent of deaths in a relationship are caused by the spouse”. This statement can not link to our case because the probability is truly random. The most important part of our counter-claim is that there is no evidence that Mrs. Maloney was involved in the murder of Mr. Maloney. The murder weapon is completely gone from the scene and there was not a single witness. I will again remind you all Mrs. Maloney was at the market during the time of the murder.

With all of this being said I would like to thank all of you for your time. The defendant, Mrs. Maloney is truly innocent and can not be proven guilty. With no evidence and a flimsy claim by the prosecution, I will again ask all of you for a verdict of not guilty. Mrs. Maloney is just a pregnant woman who now has to raise her child alone due to an evil person. Please take our entire argument into careful consideration and I wish you all an amazing evening, Thank you.
