   Volcanic lightning is a very rare phenomenon that makes it so that lightning shoots out of a volcano when it erupts. Many people think this has to do with tectonic activity, but you have to understand that this has to do with physics. Volcanic lightning forms not in the earth but from volcanic plumes. In the plumes there are tiny particles that rub against each other causing friction and because of that these particles become electrically charged. They go down the volcano since they are denser now, they get separated from the negatively charged particles. When the charges seperate to a larger distance and the separation makes it too much for the air to resist the flow of electricity lightning occurs. This phenomenon can be a danger to the public and the lightning can be a hundred times hotter than your oven. Once a person stumbled into a hospital and sought help because they had been struck by lightning. There is no doubt that this person will be reluctant to go near a volcano ever again. And remember this person was just struck by normal lightning volcanic lightning can be worse.
