Identify and compare the basic beliefs and perspectives of anne frank and zlata filipovic.

1- Anne Frank was a Jewish girl who lived during World War II. She had to go into hiding to avoid being send to concentration camps but were eventually found by the Nazis and taken to different camps. Anne and her sister were taken to Auschwits were they died in 1945.

2- Zlata Filipovic is a Bosnian girl who lived the horrors of the siege of Sarajevo during the Bosnian War. She and her family survived and escaped to Paris in 1993.

COMPARISON:

- Both girls wrote a diary during their imprisionment situations.

- Anne was hiding in some concealed rooms behind a bookcase in the building where her father worked. Zlata had to hid in the basement of her house to avoid the 330 shells a day that smashed into the city.

- Both girls maintained faith in humanity despite of the horrible things they lived. Anne wrote in her diary: "In spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart." Zlata wrote: "...choose to deal with inhumane situations in a humane way, we can turn the world around and create positive lessons for ourselves and for others."
