What helps Antigone make the dangerous decision to bury her brother, despite the known consequences? Antigone, as a strong woman, wants to undermine Creon's male authority. Antigone believes that she is doomed, due to her father's sin, and accepts it wholeheartedly. Antigone cannot imagine that her own death could be worse than the death of Oedipus. Antigone wants to teach Ismene a lesson for being so weak-willed and knows that Ismene would be hurt by Antigone's death.
